PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the occurrence of an original sheet jam.SOLUTION: In an image reading apparatus 1, a CIS 30 comprises: a passage region E1; and lateral regions E2 positioned on the lateral sides of the passage region E1. When reading the original sheet SH by using the CIS 30, standard lateral images G2 that are lateral images G2 obtained by reading an original pressing member 46 corresponding to the lateral regions E2 are acquired when the original sheet SH reaches a reading position P1. During reading of the original sheet SH, images of the lateral regions E2 are also acquired together with an image of the passage region E1. It is determined whether or not jamming of the original sheet SH has occurred by comparing the lateral images G2 acquired during reading of the original sheet SH with the standard lateral images G2. |
