The method involves providing a blank of starting material for an inner ring (130) and an outer ring (140), and heat treating the blank. The blank is beveled to form sliding surfaces for the respective rings. The rings are assembled for forming a slide bearing (100). The assembled bearing and/or the rings are treated with oil, and a sealing is attached to the bearing such that the sealing seals an intermediate area between the sliding surfaces of the rings. Initial lubricant is introduced into the intermediate area, where the blank is heat treated by martensitic curing and bainitic curing. An independent claim is also included for a slide bearing.
