PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for concentrating phenol, capable of recovering high-concentration phenol efficiently and easily from a phenol-containing mixture.SOLUTION: The method of the present invention comprises: a gasification step of gasifying a mixture of phenol and water by placing the mixture to an atmosphere having a pressure of 130 Pa or above and 4000 Pa or below and a temperature of 20°C or above and 120°C or below; and a phenol recovery step of recovering phenol deposits by placing the gasified mixture to an atmosphere having a pressure of 130 Pa or above and 4000 Pa or below and a temperature of 0°C or above and 30°C or below. Furthermore, the method of the present invention comprises: a gasification step of placing a mixture of phenol and water to an atmosphere having temperature and pressure sufficient to yield a gasified state of phenol and water; and a phenol recovery step of recovering phenol deposits from the gasified mixture by changing at least either of the temperature and the pressure.
