The present invention provides a gas generator comprising a tubular housing and a diffuser part, wherein: a first combustion chamber formed by partitioning the tubular housing with a first perforated plate member and a second combustion chamber formed by partitioning the tubular housing with a second perforated plate member are arranged; an ignition means includes an ignition part and is attached to an igniter collar; in the total aperture area of first perforations in the first perforated plate member, the percentage of a first total aperture area of only outer first perforations, which are arranged only in the vicinity of the peripheral edge part, is 95% or higher; an annular space is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the ignition part and the inner wall peripheral surface of the tubular housing; the height (H) from the igniter collar to the top surface of the ignition part and the minimum length (Lmin) of a first gas-generating-agent compact in the first combustion chamber satisfy the relationship Lmin<H; and the axis (X) of the tubular housing is arranged so as to match the center line of each of the ignition part of the igniter, the first perforated plate member, and the second perforated plate member. |
