<p>A sound attenuating chimney element for a turbomachine system includes a high density (e.g. 16-gauge steel) outer body 90 having an external surface 92 and an internal surface, and one or more acoustic attenuation layers 100,110 provided on the internal surface of the outer body. The acoustic attenuation layer(s) include an outer surface portion 104,114 and an inner surface portion. A structural (e.g. reinforced concrete) layer 140 is provided on the inner surface portion of the acoustic attenuation layer(s). The structural layer includes an external surface 141 and an internal surface 142 that defines a duct 143 configured and disposed to pass exhaust gases from the turbomachine system. A first acoustic attenuation 100 layer may comprise a pliable fibre-blanket. A second acoustic attenuation 110 layer may comprise a rigid fibre board. The chimney element may comprise a chimney stack base including one or more openings 149, 150 extending through the outer body.</p> |
