Iron comprising at least a main body (12) and an ironing base plate (14) disposed below the main body (12) and connected thereto. The iron comprises at least one insulating element (22) made of heat insulating material and disposed in an intermediate position between the main body (12) and the ironing base plate (14), for at least a substantial part of the surface of the ironing base plate (14), and configured to reduce, during use, the temperature of the ironing base plate (14).
