For a transport device for elongated workpieces (10) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction thereof, comprising a driven continuous toothed belt (1), which runs over deflection points (4) and which has concave receptacles (7, 7') for one workpiece (10) each, and comprising a feed point, at which a workpiece (10) is introduced into a receptacle (7'), wherein the workpiece protrudes beyond the receptacle (7') with the outer surface of the workpiece and lies in a sliding manner against a guide rail (3), which is associated with the toothed belt (1) and which extends between two deflection points (4) and which has a contour that bulges toward the toothed belt (1), each receptacle (7) is formed between two molded teeth (6), which have a cross-section and project from the toothed belt (1), in such a way that the inserted workpiece (10) lies only against the two side flanks (8, 9) of the molded teeth (6) bounding the receptacle (7). The toothed belt (1), which circulates at a deflection point (4), whereby the receptacles (7') are expanded, is associated with the feed point in such a way that a workpiece (10) is pushed into an expanded receptacle (7') laterally from a longitudinal side (13) of the toothed belt (1) without the workpiece coming in contact against the side flanks (8, 9) of the molded teeth (6) bounding the receptacle (7'). |
