The device (10) has an electrical motor (12) including a non-rotating external housing (18) and a motor hub (21) that is provided on an axial drive side, where the hub passes coaxial to a wheel axle (22). The motor is connected to a fixed unit and provided with a braking device (40) i.e. disk braking device (41) and/or a drum braking device. The braking device has a reversibly held functional element i.e. brake caliper (42), fastened to the external housing of the motor. A gear (25) i.e. planetary gear, is coaxially arranged between the motor and the motor hub.
