The purpose of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal aligning agent for giving a liquid crystal alignment film with high cleaning resistance (solvent resistance) when using an organic solvent as a cleaning solution. For this, the liquid crystal aligning agent includes a polymer (S) obtained by polymerization and including an alkoxysilane compound (A) with one alkoxysilane group in one molecule and an alkoxysilane compound (B) with two or more alkoxysilane groups in one molecule in a monomer composition. Also, the alkoxysilane compound (B) used in the polymerization of the polymer (S) is 3 to 30 mole% of the alkoxysilane compound (A).
