PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength selection switch that enables down-sizing and a multiport configuration and can control the intensity profile of beams. ! SOLUTION: A wavelength selection switch: divides an incident wavelength multiplexed optical signal into wavelengths using a waveguide substrate (403) having a pair of reflectors (502 and 503) with different reflectances formed in an optical waveguide (504) as a spectrometer; varies a direction of travel with an optical deflection element (405); and multiplexes and outputs optical signals of individual wavelengths using the waveguide substrate (403) as a multiplexer. Intensity profiles of beams emitted from the waveguide substrate (403) can be controlled by forming an electrode (1105) on the waveguide substrate to control an inrush current. !
