PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which enables various types of recording media to be determined properly.SOLUTION: A recording medium determination device includes: a light illumination unit 110 which applies visible light to a recording medium M; a specular reflection light receiving unit 120 which receives specular reflection light having been applied by the light illumination unit 110 and then undergone specular reflection at the recording medium M; a diffused reflection light receiving unit 130 which receives diffused reflection light having been applied by the light illumination unit 110 and then diffused and reflected by the recording medium M; and a determination unit 150 which determines a type of the recording medium, based on an amount of light of each of at least two visible light components having wavelengths different from each other among light components received at the specular reflection light receiving unit 120, and based on an amount of light of each of at least two visible light components having wavelengths different from each other among light components received at the diffused reflection light receiving unit 130. |
