The device has a second user interface (11) for accessing a database (20). The second user interface is provided with units (110, 111) to database-driven input and store an individual item description for used items in the second database. A third user interface (12) accesses the database. The third user interface is provided with units (120, 121) for input and storing photo or video data material of the used items in the second database. The photo or video data material is linked automatically with a database entry by scanning the item number. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting and evaluating used items.
