A multiple contact socket outlet comprises a socket 3 mounted on a cover-plate 1 and adapted to be inserted in a lining-box 5 in a wall 4, the cover-plate having socket entry apertures for a plug 8 and a switch 2 on the opposite face to the socket, the connections being provided from a terminal in the recess through the switch to one of the socket contacts. The switch may be single or double pole, either of the micro-break kind described in Specification 577,126, [Group XXXVII], or the push-button type described in Specification 487,342, [Group XXXVII], or it may be operated by a slide 7. Preferably the earth socket-contact aperture is countersunk as described in Specification 619,560.
