PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizer, by which a shrinkage percentage in a width direction is decreased and generation of curling can be suppressed.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a polarizer comprises subjecting a polyvinyl alcohol film to at least a dyeing process, a crosslinking process and a stretching process and then to a drying process. The drying process continuously or intermittently includes a restriction drying process where the film subjected to the above processes is dried while restricting a width direction of the film without stretching. When the entire drying time period in the drying process is denoted by (T), a time period from the start of the drying process to the start of the restriction drying process by (T0), a time period from the start to the end of the restriction drying process by (T1), and a time period when the restriction drying process is carried out in the time period (T1) is denoted by (T2), the following relations are satisfied: (T0/T)=0-0.2, (T2/T)=0.5-1, and (T2/T1)=0.8-1. |
