The device (61) has a sensor (62) for detecting a condition of a motor car (60). A control unit (64) evaluates a sensor signal to determine the car condition. The control unit is provided for a controllable actuator (65) for generation of oscillations i.e. noise signals or sinus oscillations, or vibrations of a component i.e. part of the body of the motor car so as to inform or alert a driver of the car. The actuator is arranged in or on a bearing element as a component or in vicinity of the bearing element as a component of a vibration generator. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a driver assistance device.
