PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temporary placement method for excavated surplus soil, capable of suitably preventing outflow of contaminants from the excavated surplus soil such as excavation mucks without needing huge labor hour or cost. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a temporary placement method for excavation mucks containing contaminants. An adsorption layer 11 is formed on a temporary placement yard Y as a flow path dispersion layer 1 for trapping the contaminants and further, a flow path dispersion layer 12 is formed on the upper layer of adsorption layer 11. The excavation mucks are accumulated on the flow path dispersion layer 12 to form a temporary placement mound M. The contaminant-containing water flowing down from the temporary placement mound M is adsorbed by the adsorbing agent of an adsorption sheet in the adsorption layer 11 to be encapsulated. Besides, the water flowing down from the mound M is dispersed widely and evenly by the flow path dispersion layer 12 to be spread all over the surface of the adsorption sheet.
