PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turning work machine capable of performing appropriate control corresponding to the level of the possibility of a contact. SOLUTION: An attachment is attached turnably to a base body. A turning mechanism turns the attachment and a controller controls the turning mechanism. An approaching object detector detects the position of an approaching object which approaches into a work area. The controller controls the turning operation of the attachment on the basis of a first physical quantity related to at least one of the angular speed at the present point of time of the attachment and the inertia moment at the present point of time of the attachment and the position of the approaching object detected in the approaching object detector.
