The present invention relates to an image processing method for detecting a motion area and an apparatus for detecting motion, capable of detecting motion in an image frame photographed by a camera and extracting a motion area from the corresponding image through darkening and whitening. To this end, in the present invention, provided is an image processing method to detect and extract micro-motion in an image. In the image processing method, a first motion area frame is extracted through an absolute value of the difference between pixel values of a frame having detected motion and a previous frame, and the extracted first motion area frame is darkened and whitened. In more detail, the darkening is performed based on the difference between the pixel value of the frame having the detected motion and the pixel value of the extracted motion area frame. Then, the whitening is performed based on the absolute value of the difference between the pixel value of the frame having the detected motion and the pixel value of the frame through the darkening. According to the present invention, even if fine motion is detected, a corresponding area having the fine motion can be exactly extracted from an original image through the darkening and the whitening for the motion area. |
