in a data storage device with a memory, performing:
writing a first portion of received user data to a first page of a block of the memory according to a writing schedule;writing a subsequent portion of the received user data to another page of the block according to the writing schedule;storing first metadata corresponding to writing the first portion in the memory, wherein the first metadata is stored in a first location in the memory;associating the first metadata with the subsequent portion; andreplacing the first metadata with a revised version of the first metadata by storing the revised version of the first metadata in a second location in the memory, wherein the first location is different than the second location.
