The invention aims to provide a scribing apparatus longer in service life compared to a conventional diamond stylus in the prior art, which is formed on a substrate made of brittle materials and used for enabling the scribing operation. The scribing apparatus comprises a diamond stylus, wherein the front end of the diamond stylus is provided with a knife part composed of a diamond containing part; a holding mechanism used for holding and moving the diamond stylus at the same time; and a holding unit used for holding the substrate made of brittle materials. The surface of the substrate is scribed with lines through the knife part contacted with the surface of the substrate made of brittle materials and the holding mechanism used for moving the diamond stylus. The scribing apparatus also comprises an environment adjusting mechanism. By means of the environment adjusting mechanism, at least during the scribing process, a space supplied to the knife part is occupied by inert gas, so that the space is in a hypoxia state. |
