Disclosed in the present specification are a lighting apparatus and a method of controlling the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the lighting apparatus comprises lighting devices which include a ZigBee communication module and a visible light communication module; a program switch which includes a ZigBee communication module and a visible light communication module to control the lighting devices; and an address setting unit which includes a ZigBee communication module and a visible light communication module to set an address in the lighting devices and the program switch, wherein at least one between the lighting devices and the program switch generates a random identifier for setting an address for visible light communication and transmits the random identifier to the address setting unit.
