<p>The objective of the invention is to perform an image processing that is suitable for the resolution of a content part in an input image signal. An image processing apparatus comprises: a determination unit that determines the resolution of a content part included in an image signal inputted to an image processing unit; a parameter establishment unit that establishes an image processing parameter in accordance with the determined resolution and outputs the image processing parameter to the image processing unit; and the image processing unit that performs the image processing of the image signal by use of the image processing parameter inputted to the image processing unit. The image signal is displayed, on a display unit, in a first resolution corresponding to a first display area that is the entire of the display area or in a second resolution corresponding to a second display area that is a portion of the display area. When the content part is displayed in the second resolution, a particular image to be displayed on the display area other than the second display area is included in the image signal. The determination unit determines, according to a brightness difference between pixels in a first pixel group located outside the second display area, whether the resolution of the content part is the first resolution or the second resolution.</p> |
