The method involves generating heat energy for heating multiple components of a drive system in a braking system (8) of a motor vehicle. The heat energy produced during the braking operation of the motor vehicle in the brake system is supplied for the transmission and distribution of drive power to the drive wheels (12) of the motor vehicle for a transaxle (10). The heat energy transported from a refrigeration circuit arrangement in the braking system toward the transaxle is released at the transaxle. An independent claim is included for an apparatus to improve efficiency in a drive system of a motor vehicle.
