PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote easiness in shift operation of a travelling speed in a passenger-type rice transplanter that includes: a travelling machine body 2 having travelling wheels 5 and 6 to be driven by an engine 7; a seedling planting device 3 mounted on the rear; a travelling variable speed transmission 8 for the travelling wheels; and a speed change pedal 12 provided in a driving operation part 9 in the travelling machine body.SOLUTION: There are provided an actuator (28) for shift operating the travelling variable speed transmission (8); detecting means (24) for detecting an operation state of the speed change pedal (12); and a controller (33) for driving the actuator. The controller (33) allows the actuator (28) to drive the travelling variable speed transmission (8) to operate for speeding up or speeding down on the basis of detection results by the detecting means (24) while the unit shifting quantity of the travelling speed for the unit operation quantity of the speed change member (12) being variable.
