The present invention relates to a black box device having an accident detecting function and an accident detecting method thereof. More specifically, pattern information about upward and downward impact quantities, front and rear impact quantities, and left and right impact quantities of an acceleration sensor, pattern information about a sound, and pattern information about a photographed image are managed to correspond to an accident situation, and the pattern information about the upward and downward impact quantities, the front and rear impact quantities, and the left and right impact quantities of the acceleration sensor, and the pattern information about the sound and photographed image around a vehicle are corresponded to the preset pattern information to detect the accident situation, thereby efficiently discriminating the accident situation. Since a threshold value for each driving mode of the vehicle set according to driving acceleration of the vehicle is set, each sensitivity for the pattern information about the upward and downward impact quantities, the front and rear impact quantities, and the left and right impact quantities of the acceleration sensor are variably adjusted according to the threshold value to detect the accident situation, thereby further efficiently discriminating the accident situation, especially, at low speed. Since the pattern information about the upward and downward impact quantities, the front and rear impact quantities, and the left and right impact quantities of the acceleration sensor, and the pattern information about the sound and photographed image around the vehicle match to the pattern information in phases to filter non-accident situations, the accident situation is detected to increase the speed of detecting the accident situation, and resources required to detect the accident situation are reduced. The accident situation is detected by setting a frequency change value for each driving mode and using the sound applied by the frequency change value, thereby further efficiently discriminating the accident situation according to the speed of the vehicle. |
