The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device using a laser diode (LD) assembly as a light source. The feature of the present invention is to locate 1/2λ wavelength plate (HWP) to compensate each phase delay value of R,G, and B laser beams emitted from the R, G, and B LDs on the front side of the R, G, and B LDs of the LD assembly or locate 1/4λ wavelength plate (QWP) on the front side of an X-cube prism to emit a white laser beam by mixing the R, G, and B laser beams emitted from the R, G, and B LDs. Thereby, the intensity of light supplied to a liquid crystal panel is increased by supplying the white laser beam to the liquid crystal panel via a first polarization plate by minimizing the loss of the white laser beam and high brightness is implemented. Also, the LD assembly has high linearity. Thereby, the loss of the light due to the first polarization plate is reduced by constantly maintaining the light inputted to a light guide plate without the change of the polarization property by inputting the white laser beam from the LD assembly to the light guide plate while maintaining the linearity. |
