摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantifying damaged DNA for rapidly quantifying damaged DNA contained in DNA of a cell with high treatment efficiency by simple operation, and a method for evaluating a substance to be examined. SOLUTION: The method for quantifying damaged DNA includes the step of fixing a cell group to obtain a fixed cell group, the step of applying DNA modifying treatment to the cells of the fixed cell group to obtain a treated cell group, the step of mixing the treated cell group, an anti-damaged DNA antibody, the antibody detecting reagent specifically bonded to the antibody to emit fluorescence and the cell staining reagent bonded to the cells of the treated cell group to emit fluorescence not only to subject the damaged DNA in the cells and the antibody to antigen-antibody reaction but also to bond the cells and the cell staining reagent, the step of measuring the intensity of the fluorescence emitted from the antibody detecting reagent bonded to the antibody in the obtained mixture and the intensity of the fluorescence emitted from the cell staining reagent bonded to the cells, and the step of normalizing the intensity of the fluorescence of the antibody detecting reagent on the basis of the intensity of the fluorescence of the cell staining reagent and calculating the amount of the damaged DNA from the intensity of the normalized fluorescence.
