The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing a carbon fiber precursor, wherein the binding (yarn binding) of single yarns is suppressed in a dry densification process and a secondary stretch process and the generation of micro-voids and/or macro-voids due to rapid cooling is reduced, thereby improving the quality of the precursor fiber and decreasing the change in physical property of the precursor fiber over time. The present invention relates to a method for preparing a carbon fiber precursor, wherein cool water is sprayed on a warm-water stretched yarn to cool the yarn, and cool-water bathing is performed in a multi-stage type of two stages or more to perform rapid cooling, and a small amount of emulsion is added in the last stage of the cool-water bathing to make an emulsion providing process in advance, thereby allowing the emulsion to adhere to the yarn well and uniformly. |
