PURPOSE: A safety control device and a camera mounting failure determination method thereof are provided to determine a failure in mounting a camera by detecting the horizontality of the camera using acceleration detecting units. CONSTITUTION: A safety control device comprises a camera(11), an image processing unit(12) processing images obtained by the camera, longitudinal and transverse acceleration detecting units(13) detecting the horizontality of the camera, a control unit(14) performing control of a vehicle based on the image processing results from the image processing unit, and an interface unit(15) receiving longitudinal and transverse acceleration for detecting the horizontality of the vehicle body. The control unit compares the longitudinal and transverse acceleration detected by the longitudinal and transverse acceleration detecting units with the longitudinal and transverse acceleration received through the interface unit and determines a failure in mounting the camera.
