A layer type battery in which each cell has a container 2 of plastic material is provided with a sheath 5 of similar material which is treated before being applied to the battery with a solvent for the sheath and the containers. The sheath is then slipped over the battery and shrinks on drying and becomes united with the containers. The latter may be made of polystyrene or polyethylene, the sheath being of vinyl chloride treated with trichlorethylene. |
