A method and an apparatus capable of increasing the video depths depending on the video content of each line in order to provide a maximum color gradation for each given scene is to be proposed. For this purpose, disclosed is an apparatus to drive a display device (16) including input unit (11) to receive a digital value as the video level for each pixel or cell of a line of the display device; a reference signaling unit (19) to provide at least one reference driving signal, and a driving unit (15) to generate a driving signal on the basis of the digital value and at least one reference driving signal. The apparatus further includes an adjusting unit (18) to adjust at least one reference driving signal in dependence of the digital values of at least a part of the line. |
