The method involves using a main injector (18) emerging in a combustion chamber (10) and adapted to feed the combustion chamber with fuel when combustion is initiated. A feeding circuit is provided to feed fuels to a start-up injector (17) and the main injector. A turbo-shaft engine (1) is adapted to function in a super-idle mode. The engine is operated by supplying the fuel throughout the start-up injector and by interrupting power supply of the main injector in the super-idle mode. An independent claim is also included for a twin engine assembly.
