PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device having high light emission efficiency and achieving power saving, and to provide a projector having the light source device.SOLUTION: A light source device 63 comprises: a rotary plate comprising a plurality of segment regions where a phosphor layer 131, that receives excitation light to emit light in a predetermined wavelength band, arranged on a rotation-controllable circular substrate 130; and an excitation light source 70, which comprises two or more light source bodies 72 emitting the excitation light in a predetermined wavelength band and which can emit light in at least two different wavelength bands. Two or more kinds of the phosphor layers 131 are disposed on the rotary plate. The excitation light source 70 is turned on or off interlocking with rotation of the substrate 130 so as to allow the light source bodies 72 to irradiate respectively only the corresponding phosphor layers 131 with the excitation light. |
