The method comprises preventing thermally induced distortions in sheet metal parts using a heat-conducting unit, applying a spray mass (22), an adhesive (24) and/or a contact-pressure on a high heat capacity tube as the heat-conducting unit, joining the sheet metal parts using a joint connection, when the tube is pressed into a cavity, and pressurizing the tube during the joining step. The distortions are occurred during formation of the joint. An independent claim is included for a joint connection.
