The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a sheet conveyance device that can reliably prevent a sheet such as an original document from becoming jammed inside the device. This auto document feeder (ADF) (2) which is a sheet conveyance device is provided with the following: a paper tray (21) into which paper (P) is loaded; conveyance rollers (23B-23D) and the like that are driven for feeding the paper (P) in a prescribed conveyance direction; a nip section (21B) for regulating the leading end of the paper (P) loaded into the tray (21) so that the leading end is in a predetermined first reference position; a first sensor (101) for detecting the leading end portion of the paper (P) which was regulated by the nip section (21B) so as to be in the first reference position; a second sensor (102) for detecting the tail end portion of a paper (P1), that is the smallest size paper that can be conveyed, when the leading end of the smallest size paper (P1) is regulated by the nip section (21B) so as to be in the first reference position; and a control section (5) that enables feeding of the paper (P) by a feeding mechanism (22) if the paper (P) was detected by both the first sensor (101) and the second sensor (102).
