Class 30 In a safety razor magazine of the type in which a ribbon blade, arranged in the magazine, is moved from one spool past a shaving position to another spool in the magazine, the magazine being detachably mounted in a razor head, the straight portion of the ribbon blade to be used for shaving, is engaged by a transversely extending flange on the magazine, the flange overlying the blade and being substantially parallel thereto. As shown, a guard 12 is pivotally connected, at 13, to an inclined head 11, by the engagement of a tab 9 in a slot 71, to form a pocket 15 receiving a magazine 14. A pivoted cam 67 maintains the guard, which is capable of limited universal swivelling and sliding movement relative to the head 11, in closed position, and the magazine, clamped between a shelf 72 of the guard 12, and a lip 66 on the head 11. The magazine includes a supply coil, in a recess 31, and a take-up spool, rotated by a knob 37, in a casing comprising a base 20, slotted horizontally at 25 to provide a bridge 26 on which the blade 16 is guided and a cover 21 having a flange 28 which engages the blade and the lip 66. A ratchet device prevents unspooling of the unused blade and sealing elements, to exclude water and soap are provided. The cutting edge of the blade is protected, the heel 47 being maintained against the surface 48 of the cover 21, by slanting of the surfaces at each end of the bridge The cutting edge 17 of the blade is kept-out of contact with the inside of the recess 31 by tapering the wall 49 so that the heel 47 of the blade moves towards the cover 21. A non-metallic washer 51 may further protect the blade. |
