A process of creating a flexible waterproof 2 ply laminated fabric, comprising a first and second layer of millinery buckram fabric 10, where each layer is soaked in an application of polyurethane adhesive 11, the layers are then mechanically compressed together using approximately 90kg of weight and the layers are bonded chemically at room temperature; the outer surfaces of the laminated material are searched with three coats of lacquer. Preferably the laminated fabric has a third layer positioned between the two layers of buckram fabric, and may be aluminium foil or polythene plastic that have 2mm holes punched through the material in a dot matrix pattern, to assist in the lamination of the materials, or woven fibreglass mesh or very fine fibrous mesh to create a strong flexible waterproof material. Alternatively three to six layers of millinery buckram fabric may be laminated together using the same process. The process may also be used to produce a single ply material from a single layer of millinery or book buckram fabric with or without the lacquer coating. |
