The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same, capable of executing an application. A mobile terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a display unit for outputting first screen information corresponding to a first application; and a control unit for converting the first screen information outputted on the display unit in response to a first control command into second screen information which is different from the first screen information, and outputting a first graphic object which represents the first application on at least one part of the display unit. The control unit repetitively outputs the first screen information corresponding to the first application in response to a second control command on the display unit.
