PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet press molding method capable of molding integrally a molding having a rib or a boss.SOLUTION: A sheet press molding method consists of a sheet press molding step of pressing a sheet-like substrate composed of a thermoplastic material in which at least a part of the surface is heat-molten, by means of a lower mold and an upper mold arranged oppositely, to form integrally a molding having a rib. The lower mold has a first press surface which is opposite to the upper mold and for formation of one surface of the molding, and the upper mold has a second press surface which is opposite to the lower mold and for formation of the other surface of the molding including the rib. The second press surface includes a main front surface, a recess part recessed from the main front surface toward the first press surface and a projecting part projected from the main front surface toward the first press surface, and the surface of the recess part continues with the surface of the projecting part. In the sheet press molding step, the molten sheet-like substrate is charged, through fluid flowing, into the recess part. |
