PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that can perform quick zoom operation.SOLUTION: An optical system 21 of a lens part 20 has a zoom function. In each of lens groups constituting the optical system 21, at least one lens displaces in a reciprocated manner in a variable magnification between a wide-angle end and a telephoto end, that is, for example, when the lens group arranged on the most subject side varies gradually from the wide-angle end to the telephoto end, initially the lens group moves onto an image pickup element side, and then, moves onto the subject side. When a focal length of the optical system 21 is desired to be quickly set to a prescribed value, a lens control part 11d controlling an operation of the optical system 21 causes each lens group to linearly move to a target position, neglecting optical characteristics of the optical system 21 in the middle of the movement. |
