EXPANSION SUPPRESSING MATERIAL, CONCRETE AND METHOD OF SUPPRESSING EXPANSION OF CONCRETE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion suppressing material of concrete, especially a technology for suppressing expansion of concrete accompanying an alkali aggregate reaction.SOLUTION: The expansion suppressing material contains a halloysite and/or metahalloysite as active ingredients. The halloysite and metahalloysite are stabilized by absorbing calcium or aluminum abnormally eluting from cement or sodium and potassium in cement or in concrete. Although expansion suppressing effect is obtained by unfired halloysite and metahalloysite, larger expansion suppressing effect is obtained with firing at a temperature of 600 to 950°C (high temperature heating). The expansion suppressing material is mixed during mixing concrete.
