PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device for displaying a shrunk image in three-dimensional form so that a greater stereoscopic effect is obtained.SOLUTION: An image pickup element 505 of the image pickup device is provided with a pixel unit having a plurality of photoelectric conversion parts for generating an image signal by photoelectrically converting, for one microlens, a light flux having passed through divided different regions of an exit pupil of an image pickup optical system. The image pickup device generates and stores, in storage means, a thumbnail image of a synthesized image of left-eye image data and right-eye image data acquired on the basis of the image signal outputted by the image pickup element 505 and parallax amount information about the thumbnail image. The image pickup device magnifies parallax indicated by the parallax amount information about the thumbnail image in the storage means. Then, the image pickup device generates a right-eye thumbnail image and a left-eye thumbnail image on the basis of the parallax-magnified parallax amount information and the thumbnail image, and displays the generated images in three-dimensional form. |
