[Also in Group XVI] Slots 14 are cut in box blank material by means of at least two slotting tools 30, 31, each having two series of pyramidal cutting teeth 58, 60, Fig. 6, staggered relatively to each other and having triangular bases, the bases of one series being disposed oppositely from those of the other series. The bases of the cutting teeth preferably lie in a plane 56-56 inclined at a small angle to the top face 43 of the tool. The tool has a half-tooth 74 at one end thereof for cutting the inner end of a slot 14. The tool has a wide upper portion 50, Fig. 4, and is provided with a slot 48. Score lines 12 and 16 are cut in the box blank material by means of a scoring bar 28 and transverselyadjustable scoring rollers 36, 38. The scoring bar has a wide upper portion 29 which fits in slots in blocks 26 carried by, and transverselyadjustable relatively to, a vertically-reciprocable member 24. The narrow lower portion 28a of the scoring bar fits in the slots 48 in the slotting tools the wide upper portions 50 of which are secured in slots in the blocks 26 by means of screws 52. The box blank material A is advanced by means of feed rollers 20, 22, Fig. 2, and is severed to form a box blank 10 by means of a cut-off knife 40. Specification 672,428 is referred to. |
