PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce power consumption of an image forming apparatus operating in a power saving mode.SOLUTION: When an image forming apparatus is shifted to a power saving mode, a controller part 112 achieves further saving of power consumption by switching an AC current on and off at predetermined intervals ta. In order to prevent a conventional problem in which if an AC current inputted from a commercial AC power supply 100 is turned off, a DC voltage generation circuit 107 becomes unable to supply DC voltage Vcc and the controller part 112 becomes unable to operate, the controller part 112 operates by electric charge accumulated in a smoothing capacitor Cs while the AC current is not supplied. Before the end-to-end voltage Vcs of the smoothing capacitor Cs becomes lower than an operation lower limit voltage of the DC voltage generation circuit 107, an AC cutoff circuit 104 is turned on and the smoothing capacitor Cs is recharged. |
