PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which reduces power consumed at start-up easily and efficiently.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 comprises: a power supply circuit 22 for supplying power; a network connection circuit 24 which is communicably connected to a network and controls the power supplied by the power supply circuit 22 on the basis of a signal received via the network; a main CPU 34 which controls driving of a device 50 providing a predetermined function; and a sub-CPU 32 which consumes less power than the main CPU 34 and controls driving of the main CPU 34. When the signal is a start-up signal instructing a start-up, the network connection circuit 24 instructs the power supply circuit 22 to supply power to the sub-CPU 32 and starts the sub-CPU 32.
