PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a printer capable of transporting a recording medium with high accuracy while minimizing a fluctuation in the tension of the recording medium.SOLUTION: A printer 1 includes: a medium transport mechanism 10 transporting a recording medium 5; a printing head 6 printing an image on the recording medium 5 transported by the medium transport mechanism 10; a medium feed mechanism 14 that can feed the recording medium 5 toward the medium transport mechanism 10; a moving member 18 movable to follow a tension fluctuation of the recording medium 5 located between the medium transport mechanism 10 and the medium feed mechanism 14; a detector 21 detecting a moving position of the moving member 18 steplessly or by multiple steps; and a control unit 25 controlling a medium feed operation performed by the medium feed mechanism 14 so that the moving member 18 is held at a preset position on the basis of a detection result of the detector 21. |
