<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pretreatment liquid of less foaming even if being discharged by an inkjet method, and a cartridge, an ink jet recording apparatus, an ink jet recording method and an recording material using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The pretreatment liquid for treating the surface of a recording medium before inkjet recording is executed on the recording medium (I) includes a fluorine-containing quaternary ammonium salt compound, expressed by general formula (I), wherein R<SP>1</SP>denotes H, a carbon number 1-4 lower alkyl group which may be branched or a phenyl group, R<SP>2</SP>to R<SP>4</SP>denote a carbon number 1-10 lower alkyl group which may be branched, X denotes SO<SB>2</SB>or CO, Y denotes I or Br, m denotes a positive integer, n denotes an integer of four or more, and C<SB>n</SB>F<SB>2n-1</SB>has a branched structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
