<p>Mechanical system with component requiring greater lubrication at low system speed conditions, having lubricant tower 28 biased to a position allowing greater lubricant flow at low speeds (figure 3a), movable to a second position to limit lubricant flow at higher speeds (figure 3b). Tower 28 may include valve spool 40 biased to a high flow position, moving against the bias to restrict flow at high machine speed conditions. Spool 40 may block or re-direct flow at high speed conditions, and may include window 52 allowing flow from an internal bore 100 through an orifice 30 in a valve sleeve outer wall. Bias may be provided by spring 38, positioned at an axial end or mid location of valve spool 40. Component to be lubricated may include gears (figure 2, 26), and may be part of a gas turbine engine having a compressor, combustor, turbine, accessory gearbox, and a starter.</p> |
