The present invention discloses an image forming device and a control method thereof. The image forming device comprises an input part for receiving a job execution instruction; a job execution part for executing a job corresponding to the inputted job execution instruction; and a control part for controlling a standby time which is a time interval after the completion of an operation and before entering a sleep mode when the inputted job execution instruction is a job execution instruction added while the image forming device is operating in a normal mode, wherein the control part converts the operation mode of the image forming device into the sleep mode according to the adjusted standby time.
