A proximity sensing apparatus comprising: a light emitting assembly having a light emitting device for proximity sensing positioned on a substrate and a light emitting lens that is positioned along a side of the light emitting device that is opposite the substrate, the light emitting lens capable of transmitting light from the light emitting device to an ambient environment; a light receiving assembly having a light receiving device positioned on the substrate and a receiving lens positioned along a side of the light receiving device opposite the substrate, the light receiving lens capable of collecting light and transmitting the light toward the light receiving device; and a mid wall positioned between the light emitting assembly and the light receiving assembly, the mid wall having a crosstalk controlling portion positioned between the light emitting lens and the light receiving lens, the crosstalk controlling portion having a plurality of lengthwise fibers and a plurality of crosswise fibers oriented substantially orthogonal with respect to one another and at a substantially non-orthogonal angle with respect to a lateral axis bisecting the light emitting lens and the light receiving lens.
